Lumi TOEFL FAQ
What is Lumi TOEFL?
Lumi TOEFL is a practice app that helps you prepare for current TOEFL Writing and Listening tasks. You can practice Writing tasks like Build a Sentence, Write an Email, and Academic Discussion, plus Listening tasks such as choose a response, conversations, announcements, and academic talks. You can also receive feedback from Lumi's AI coach and track your progress over time.
What TOEFL task types does the app support?
The app supports Build a Sentence, Write an Email, Academic Discussion, Listen and Choose a Response, Listen to a Conversation, Listen to an Announcement, and Listen to an Academic Talk. Integrated Writing is now treated as legacy material.
How does AI grading work?
After you submit your essay, Lumi's AI coach reviews your writing and prepares structured feedback. It evaluates Task Response, Coherence and Cohesion, Lexical Resource, Grammar Range and Accuracy, and Overall Impression.
What do the scores from 1 to 5 mean?
1 means needs significant improvement, 2 means below average, 3 means average, 4 means good with minor issues, and 5 means excellent. Aim for a 4+ on each dimension to target a high TOEFL Writing score.
What are Lumids?
Lumids are Lumi TOEFL's in-app currency for premium features. You can earn Lumids through rewards or buy Lumid packages where available. Lumids are used to unlock premium practice questions and request grading.
How do I earn Lumids?
Go to Profile > Earn Lumids. You can earn Lumids from rewarded ads when available, and you may also see purchase options depending on your platform.
How much does AI grading cost?
AI grading costs 50 Lumids per submission. If you do not have enough Lumids, you can save your answer first and submit it for grading after earning more Lumids.
What is Human Expert grading?
Human Expert grading connects your essay to a reviewer who is very experienced in TOEFL-style writing feedback. It provides in-depth, personalised comments and costs 400 Lumids per submission. Human grading usually takes more than 3 working days.
How do free question unlocks work?
Every day you receive free question unlocks that reset automatically. Once your daily free unlocks are used, additional premium questions require Lumids.
Are my essays stored privately?
Your essays and grading results are stored in your account and are not shown to other users. Authorized reviewers can access submissions only when needed for human grading, support, moderation, or service operations. Please review our Privacy Policy for full details.
Can I export my grading history?
Yes. Go to Profile > Export Data to download your submission history as a CSV or PDF file where supported.
How do I change my display name or profile picture?
Go to Profile > Edit Profile. You can update your display name and choose a new profile photo from your gallery or take a new photo.
I forgot my password. How do I reset it?
On the login screen, tap Forgot password? and enter your email address. You will receive a reset link within a few minutes. Check your spam folder if it does not arrive.
Why does grading sometimes take a while?
Grading involves sending your essay to a secure cloud service and waiting for the model to generate detailed feedback. This usually takes a short time, but it may take longer during busy periods.
